New Plants Tour: A Preview

By Curt Kipp — Posted August 22, 2012

This is part of our continuing coverage of the Farwest Show. Keep checking back for updates. This post concerns Day Two of the Farwest Show Tours, specifically, Tour 3, the New Plants tour on Wednesday, August 22, 2012.

Today will be an exciting day, as we will have a packed bus with 53 people touring retail and commercial nurseries — and even the spectacular Oregon Garden — to see the best in new plants. (There’s also Tour 2 today — In the Shadow of Mt. Hood — but we can’t be in two places at once. If you’re attending that tour, feel free to share your impressions in the comments.)

Yesterday, on the Gen(i)us Acer Tour, we had guests from as far away as New York, Texas, Mongolia and even New Zealand. Who will be on board today?

Our tour stops will be as follows:

  • Portland Nursery on Stark Street, Portland
  • Al’s Garden Center Growing Operation in Hubbard, Ore.
  • Woodburn Nursery & Azaleas, Woodburn, Ore.
  • Fessler Nursery, Woodburn, Ore.
  • The Oregon Garden

Throughout the day we will post updates depending on the availability of WiFi coverage. We may not be able until the end of the day, but we will post something by then (sometime after 6 p.m.) if not earlier. After yesterday’s tour, we posted a whopping five photo albums — one for each stop — at the Farwest Show Facebook page, and you can go and check those out. This evening we will post photos from today’s New Plants tour stops, and tomorrow we will have live coverage from the Farwest seminars and expo. If you tweet about the #FarwestShow, please be sure to use (and follow) that hashtag — #FarwestShow.
